A squatted house in West Berlin in the early 80s: the Wall City teems with people who want anything but a bourgeois life. One of them is Hucky, who hails from a quaint West German town and whose real name is Holger von Hachenstein. His background needs to remain top-secret, though, representing the opposite of what he chose to be: squatter, guitarist, and punk.

Together with his housemates, Falk, Pflaume and Kugelblitz, Hucky forms the band T.T. Embargo and barely stays afloat doing odd jobs. There’s crazy Lilli, whom he secretly desires, chubby Meike, with whom he occasionally shares a bed, and Kermit, an East German Rasta whose pride and joy is a huge, homemade bong.

Life in the squat is a constant battle against the elements. Sometimes it’s the cops looking for drugs, sometimes it’s a bunch of skinheads smashing windows, or it’s Gerlinde Steinmöller again, the lovely neighbor from across the street.

And then, there’s ‘special needs’ Heiner wanting to move in, believing that the squatters practice free love. .
